Children's Privacy Policy
Adamic is designed for adults and teenagers, not young children. This policy explains how we comply with the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") and the special protections for children under the GDPR (sometimes called "GDPR-K"), and how parents can stay in control.
1. Minimum age
You must be at least 13 years old to use Adamic. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. COPPA protects children under 13 in the United States by requiring verifiable parental consent before their data is collected; because we do not allow accounts for children under 13 at all, we do not collect their data.
2. Age check at sign-up
Everyone who signs up must enter their date of birth and country.
- Under 13: sign-up is blocked with a friendly message. We do not create an account and we do not store the name, email or date of birth that was entered. We keep only an anonymous count of blocked attempts, with no way to link it to anyone.
- 13 or older, but under the age of digital consent in a GDPR country: the age of digital consent is the age below which a parent must consent to online services (GDPR Article 8). Countries set it between 13 and 16. We treat the EU, the EEA and the UK as 16 unless a country's law sets a lower age, and the United States as 13. If you are under that age, your account is created in a pending parental consent state and you are asked for a parent or guardian's email address.
- Everyone else can use Adamic normally.
3. Parental consent
We email the parent or guardian a secure link explaining what Adamic is, what data it processes, and links to our policies. The parent can approve or decline. Until a parent approves, the account cannot join calls. If the parent declines, or does not respond within 30 days, the account is deleted. The parent's email address and decision are kept as a consent record.
4. How minor accounts are different
Accounts of users under 18 are flagged as minor accounts, and we apply extra protections:
- No persistent voice profile. The option is unavailable, and voice data is used only during the session.
- Recordings stay inside the room. Recordings that include a minor are not shared with external guests by default.
- Minimal analytics. We collect only what is needed to run calls, such as connection quality, and nothing for profiling.
- No advertising at all. Adamic shows no ads and does no behavioural advertising (meaning ads targeted using what you do online) to anyone, including minors.
- Recording consent and voice consent still apply, and minors can decline either without losing access to meetings.
5. Parents' rights
A parent or guardian of a minor user can ask to review the personal data we hold about the child, correct it, stop further processing, or delete the account. Email privacy@adamic.io from the address used for parental consent, or use the underage-account report form below. We may ask for reasonable information to confirm you are the parent, and we will respond within 30 days.
6. Reporting an underage account
If you believe a child under 13 is using Adamic, or that a minor's account was created without proper consent, please use the Report an underage account form on this page or email privacy@adamic.io. We will investigate promptly and, if confirmed, delete the account and its personal data.
